In light of the news from Provincial and Federal Health Agencies, the Executive of the BC Council of Garden Clubs has cancelled the in-person general meeting scheduled for Saturday, April 25th.  While the risk of contracting COVID-19 remains low in BC, we believe this is a socially responsible response to assist with containing the spread of this illness.

There is no provision in the current BCCGC constitution as to how to deal with the reporting and business that arises at an Annual General Meeting when the AGM is cancelled or delayed. Accordingly, your BCCGC Executive has decided to proceed with a “Virtual AGM.”

This “Virtual AGM” will come to you as an email from the Council on or near April 6, 2020.  This email will include the BCCGC’s 2019 Annual Reports, the Scholarship Trust Fund’s 2019 Annual Report, information on a motion for a constitutional change (previously emailed to you) as well as a ballot asking for your “yes” or “no” vote on this motion and information on how to return the ballot to the BCCGC.

Please read through the material and then return the “Voting” page to the Council so that it gets to us by April 25, the scheduled date of the AGM.

This AGM package will also include a list of positions that are up for election this spring with a request that you contact us should you wish to be considered for a position. Presuming we are able to hold our fall 2020 general meeting, we will hold the elections for these vacant Executive and Scholarship Trustee positions at that time. Until our next general meeting, the Executive will appoint people to fill the roles.

If you have already purchased tickets, a full refund (including any Eventbrite fees) will be made to you through the following options:

 

  • A cheque mailed to you
  • A reserved (and fully transferrable) ticket for our next upcoming meeting
