|Meeting time and location:|
We meet of the first Thursday of each month except July and December at 7:15pm at Riverview.
Our purpose is to create awareness of the tree collection on the Riverview Hospital site that the site can be saved for mental health and horticulture. Since 1992 the Riverview Horticultural Centre Society has worked to increase public awareness of the Riverview Lands in Coquitlam with the goal of having the site preserved for the mentally ill, horticulture and public community uses. The heritage trees on the Riverview Lands form an irreplaceable asset complementing Colony Farm Regional Park as a regional green space for Greater Vancouver. There are more than 1800 catalogued trees at Riverview many of which are unique. It’s a jewel of a site that’s far too good for anything but a compassionate, diverse care community for mental health treatment, education, horticulture and healing
We hold Tree Tours, heritage walks, nature walks from March to October, Tree Fest in mid September. Private tours can be arranged.
