Renowned Horticulturalist Brian Minter to share new plants, new ideas and trends at CV Horticultural Society Meeting

The Comox Valley Horticultural Society is pleased to welcome acclaimed horticulturalist and Order of Canada recipient Brian Minter as guest speaker for its January meeting on Monday, January 19, 2026, at 7:00 PM via Zoom.

Minter will present “What’s New, Interesting and Exciting for Our Gardens in 2026,” sharing discoveries from major horticultural shows across Europe and North America. His presentation will focus on new plants, new ideas and fabulous containers.

With over 35 years of broadcasting experience on CBC Radio and decades as a syndicated columnist, Minter brings extensive expertise to gardeners at all skill levels. He currently writes a bi-weekly gardening column for the Vancouver Sun and has been inducted into the Garden Writers Association’s Hall of Fame.

Along with his wife Faye, Minter created the renowned Minter Gardens and operates Minter Country Garden in Chilliwack, BC. He has received the Perennial Plant Association’s Award of Merit and serves as a sought-after speaker on horticulture, business, and tourism both nationally and internationally.

A Master Gardener with a BA from UBC, Minter regularly travels to the world’s top horticultural trade shows and gardens to research the latest industry developments. He has also served as First Chancellor of the University of the Fraser Valley and worked with the Canadian Compost Council to create the national Plant a Row, Grow a Row program supporting food banks across Canada.

Non-members can register for $5.50 through the society’s website at www.comoxvalleyhortsociety.ca by 5:00 PM on Friday, January 16, as registration requires two days to process.
