Helping BC Horticulture Students Further Their Education

donate to
the scholarship fund

In partnership with Vancity Community Foundation, the BC Council of Garden Clubs, through donations, supports young people entering the horticultural industry by providing 12 scholarships each year to deserving students from academic institutes across British Columbia.

At a time when the climate crisis is at the forefront in our communities, it is more important than ever to encourage the legacy of farming practices, forest management, native and pollinator planting, water-wise gardening, healthy soil management, landscaping and protection of our environment through sustainability in our province among today’s young people.

year of the garden for 2023: purple!

The Canadian Garden Council will be continuing to celebrate gardening across Canada in 2023 by promoting planting purple flowers and plants. We asked our members throughout BC to submit photos of purple plants in their garden. You can view the photos or see a recording of our presentation via the buttons below. Enjoy!

drippy photos

Our members all came together to help end the ongoing drought in the province through a ‘rain dance’. Members from all over BC submitted photos dripping with rain and moisture.

We are quite sure that our ‘rain dance’ did something to encourage much needed rain! Enjoy!

year of the garden 2023

Canadian Garden Council and Communities in Bloom invite us to “paint the country purple in 2023”. BC Council of Garden Club members are encouraged to plant purple, a colour that lifts spirits, encourages creativity and calms the mind – a great colour to help us after two years dealing with the pandemic.
