Speaker Profile

Winston Wong, owner of BC Bee Supply, has been a beekeeper for 10 years, and has been running his supply store since 2017. As an advocate for pollinators and sustainable gardening practices, his focus is on the benefits of keeping different types of bees, and the basics of how beekeeping works. Through his weekend courses, Winston has gotten hundreds of new beekeepers off the ground, and he also facilitates talks to help people decide whether beekeeping (and what kind of beekeeping) might be a good fit for them. During one of these talks you will learn about things like the bee life cycle, swarms, hive equipment, hive inspections, and mason beekeeping as an alternative to honey beekeeping.

"Honeybees" and "Mason Bees", and the tending/keeping of these pollinator species, are the big topics that we focus on. The creation of honey is also of interest.
